EDITORIAL: Warren Boodaghian displays the beauty of colour processing in this series shot by Aris Akritidis

(Liza)
Inspiration: late 90ʼs American influence, Nirvana meets Clueless
Technique: Taken from 90ʼs braids styling, I used a very similar technique for the colour application. I started off by applying block colour to the back sections working with angled sections to add strength. In the front I then twisted the colour into tiny sections as if I was braiding the hair. Working on blonde hair I used bright semi permanents, working with 3 colours: Pink Flamingo, Orange Sorbet and Candy Red.

(Sophie)
Inspiration: late 70’s New Romantic
Technique: I pre-lightened the hair to a pale yellow shade and created a pattern with strong bold sections. I worked with three colours through the back sections using Mykonos Blue and Purple Bubblegum, and through the top parts I incorporated a third colour which was Peppermint.

(Tiffany)
Inspiration: Marvel superhero (the villain)
Technique: I wanted the colour application to look slick and dramatic, so I worked with Tiffany’s haircut to help and guide me to the sectioning pattern. I prepped the hair by creating a colour bleed before toning it with pre-lightener to the top section of the hair. Once developed, I then sectioned the hair from the crown to the hairline, and through the underneath parts I used a clear gloss with tones, using oranges and yellows, to create an orange fire, and through the front section I worked with a bright popping yellow.

(Lucy)
Inspiration: 90s brit, This Is England
Technique: I wanted to capture the process of a bleach application and how you see the levels of lift, because personally I find the process really exciting as it happens right before your eyes. Once complete, the colour inspiration was inspired by Keith Flint from the Prodigy. Strong bold sections working with 3 colours: Acid Green, Petrol Blue and Electric Blue. Through the back and side sections I worked with Electric Blue and through the top Acid Green, in the fringe section I worked with all three colours to create a melting effect.
