PLACES: Anything to Declare? at Hamburg gallery Deichtorhallen Hamburg.

London based artist Jazmin Morris presents her Don’t Touch My Hair-Ware project in collaboration with hairdresser Jodi Gaskin who designed vibrant and colourful wigs with a strong connotation to black culture.

Morris worked with participants in London to teach skills of braiding and cornrowing. The results became part of the work she exhibited in the Hamburg gallery to express the similarities between braiding and coding through repetition, mathematics, variables and linear structures.

“Don’t Touch my Hair-Ware practically explores the borders between hair and code in a creative attempt to unite the two languages”
