By teasing hair into the shapes of single letters and photographing each one, Monique Goossens has created her own hair typography. The Amsterdam based designer uses different types and colours, including blue, black and ginger hair. Rather than manipulate the hair too heavily, she is sensitive to its inherent qualities when working with it. “I follow the natural characteristics of the hair” she explains, “curly, rounded corners, springiness…” Goossens has created typography using a variety of everyday objects, including plastic bags and disposable hairnets.
